Sexopatgologists are normally in charge of operating on patients to
correct sexual disorders. Doctors in this field most often treat men
who are having erectile dysfunctions.
Penile implant, otherwise known as penile prosthesis, is one of the
most recommended treatments for persons suffering from erectile
dysfunction.
A surgery to correct this sexual disorder requires that a medical
device is implanted within the corpora cavernosa of the penis.

Speaking after becoming the first ever Ghanaian to successfully
perform a penile implant surgery, an elated Dr Amanamah described the
achievement as"a dream come true, that Ghanaians can now access this
treatment in Ghana."
He added that the public must start to take erectile dysfunction more
seriously, while also urging patients to seek for professional help if
such a disorder is noticed, rather than just trying out counter drugs.
Experts say erectile dysfunction normally affects men between the ages
of 40 – 70 years.

Dr Amanamah who led the four-member team of doctors performed the
penile implant surgery in collaboration with the Peace and Love
Hospital and the Derry Court Medical Practice.
