Gov’t should include the dying movie industry to its “One District, One Factory” programme – Kwaku Manu

Kumawood actor, Kwaku Manu has asked the government to include the MovieIndustry into it’s most touted “One District, One Factory” policy in order to injectsome level of seriousness in the industry.

According to him, currently, the unavailability of laws in the movie industry has offered a platform for industry players to “do what they want” and that has brought about the dwindling fortunes of the movie industry.

Kwaku Manu who was speaking to EIB Network’s GhOne TV said: “For me, I expect that our father Nana Akufo-Addo will come and take the movie industry and hand it over to a private person to manage it for us because there are no laws in the movie industry so people do whatever they want.
If the government sees the movie industry as part of the one district one factory, they will know that our district is bigger and they will focus on making the industry better”

.He used the opportunity to call on the actor guild to as a matter of urgency to meet with the actor and actresses in order to build a better movie industry because the industry is gradually dying.

Language isn’t a barrier in my quest to conquer the world- Fancy Gadam

Northern Region’s biggest artiste, Fancy Gadam has said although conquering the International Market with his mother language will be difficult, there is no way he will drop his language for another language.

I won’t change the language I sing in because I am the selling point of my language and that is why my people believe in me. Maybe I will have to blend it with English but rejecting my language will not happen,” he told Kasapa FM.

9 Arrested for diverting medical items for TamaleTeachin Hospital Ebola Centre

Nine (9) persons have been arrested in connection with the diversion of medical equipment meant for Infectious Disease Treatment Centre (IDTC) at the Tamale Teaching Hospital (TTH).

The suspects who are all staff including Kumbieri Thomas, Abdul Malik and one Faaz, both security men at the hospital who posed as an agent of a Techiman based supplier of medical equipment were arrested after authorities of the facility lodged a complaint with the police.
Spokesperson of the Hospital Dr Osei Mensah, who confirmed the disappearance of equipment meant for the Ebola Centre, indicates that the matter is being investigated by the police.
The medical equipment were supposed to be used for the establishment of the Infectious Disease Treatment Centre (IDTC) funded by the Korean government under the auspices of the Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), at the cost of 1.5 million  Ghana cedis.

According to checks, the IDTC in the wake of the Ebola outbreak in West Africa back in 2014 was expected to be equipped with 20 beds, a water tanker, and anambulance bay in accordance with directives by the World Health OrganisationIt was however established that these facilities though were procured and stored at the premier facility in the region, they were never installed paving way for a cartel to succeed in stealing and selling same items to private clinics within the Tamale Metropolis including Universal Health Clinic.
Kumbieri Thomas a staff of the TTH and a leader of the cartel, was reported to have conspired with 8 others in stealing the items that were packed in containers at night and transporting them to unknown locations and later posed as medical suppliers to sell to private health facilities in the region.
